I've seen a few questions asked about changing the default folder
icons. Okay.. Now I use a program by Stardock called Icon Packager with which I am sure many of you are familiar. This program changes the icons on the entire system, from drives, to folders, to file types, and the start menu. I find it strange that OME of the icon modifications made by icon packager are picked up by Directory Opus, but not all. For example, the system folders as "My Computer", "Recycle Bin", "Control Panel" (including changed icons on the control panel), and file types set by icon packager are all correctly displayed in Opus, but the file folder icons and drive icons are not. They are displayed as the same jagged, yellow and ugly icons.
So, I upgraded since 8.2.2.0 to 8.2.2.3 version (the last) because since the 8.2.2.2 DOpus was supposed to support custom shell icons made by programs such as IconPacker, BeeIcons, etc. But it's still the same.
So my question is what about you guy? Do you manage to apply all the changes in Windows made by Icon Packager in DOpus too?
I use IconPhile to change my icons which does the same thing as Icon Packager. I to had trouble with the icons at first but now the folder icons are always the proper ones.
I think it could be a problem with cached icons, Dopus needs to be restarted or perhaps Windows XP needs to be restarted for it to fully take.
Anyways it seems to be working correctly now in version: 8222 U
A fix for the folder icons will not change problem.
My situation is \ was identical to Freds situation. Exactly !!
My folders are now changing using TuneUp 2000 but I am sure that
Icon Packager and other like programs will work also.
Long story short I made two changes.
I deleted the " NoIconTrickery " from the registry.
( I do not think
this helped as I had changed it from 1 to 0 with
no effect. )
I changed one setting: ( From a lister or the system tray icon: )
Settings > Prefrences > Folders > on the option:
" Enable Folder Content Type Detection for "
I changed the option from " Local Drives Only"
To " All Local and Network Drives "
This option is sellected ( checked ) by default. I left
it sellected ( on )
Thats all. Just from hours of trial and error and a little luck.
I have tested enough to prove that it definantly fixes my problem.
I was working with a new install so most of the other options
were still set at their defaults. Some other setting ( Probably in
the same area and in folders ) may need to be set to the default or
whatever.
The system had to be completely reset !! Turned off with
the notification area icon. Than restarted. Reboot was not
necessary.
Please post back if this works or not. I have spent a lot
of time hunting this bug.

It was DELETING the registry
Key which fixed the problem.
I thought I had tried that before but apparantly not.
In other cases changing the ' 1' to a ' 0 ' would turn off the
registry key. Now I know better.
So for all future readers, deleting the registry key as instructed
cured my problem.
Thanks to everyone for all your help

As you say man
I had done the same thing as you, changing the NoIconTrickery registry value. But right now I've deleted it and the magie appeared. It was so simple and I was so stupid not to do it first since I've heard of it. but now 8)
