The Windows in my country uses GBK encoding as system default. (Don't know if it's a cause)
If a text file was saved in utf-8 encoding, it's thumbnail preview will appears as wrong characters:

You can set the default encoding to UTF-8 in the Text File Thumbnails plugin configuration. (Preferences / Viewer / Plugins)
