FEATURES REQUEST - {dlgfolder} + open dialog

Ladies and gentlemen...

{dlgfolder} dialog

Dopus is the king of file managers. However, the major missing link is file management when it comes to opening and saving files!

Solution: Dopus helper application that hooks/injects into the standard windows open/save as dialog box to provide the same familiar menus that appear in {dlgfolder}.

Notice the addition of new 'aliases' and 'tabs' menus.

For the windows dialog, clicking one of the items in the drop-down menu would populate the blank "File name:" field with the appropriate path.

This has to be one of the most sought after features of all time 2005 - 2013.

Here is a small sample......................

The list goes on, Clearly there is a need!

No need to use other 3rd party software which has no way of knowing your dopus tabs/favourites etc. etc. If 'Listary' can do something similar, why can't Opus - The ultimate Explorer replacement!

Hooking the dialogs used by other programs is not a path we plan to go down. If you look at anything else which has attempted to do that type of thing, it has been a huge can of worms, because you can't really make assumptions about what other software is going to do with the file dialogs it owns and uses.

We do provide (and could extend) an API which allows other people to access our list of favorites, aliases, etc. for use with this kind of thing. So if someone else wants to go down that path then we can help them, even though it's not something we plan to do ourselves.

(An alternative way, which someone did in the past but then abandoned, is to provide a shell namespace that lists the Opus favorites (etc.) as part of the shell folder tree, so that they appear in all the File Open dialogs, as well as Explorer itself.)
