I am new to DOpus and amazed by its performance and versatility. I seriously think of buying it. I do have one missing "deal breaker" feature which still holding me back. This is a very basic request: to be able to wrap metadata text, especially the "user description" field. This field often serves as a summary or depiction of the content of the file and folder. Thus, it is usually pretty long. But it is displayed both in the detail column and in the metadata pane as one long line, usually cut in the middle due to lack of horizonal space. There should be an option to wrap the text to be displayed in multi-line paragraphs inside a textbox.
Apparently this bugs not just me. It is a repeated request.
There are some alternative user-made UIs for editing metadata which might be what you want, or could be adapted if they aren't (it's all built using Opus's scripting API).
Plus the two posts it links to at the top, with different people's takes on the same idea.
(I think there are some more as well, but mainly geared toward music metadata, if I remember correctly.)
It's not about the entering or editing of the metadata which are perfectly comfortable with the native features of DOpus. It's about the way the metadata is displayed. I want to be able to attach a few sentences to folders/files, summing up its content, and that this few sentences will be easily readable as I hover through the folders/files. The User Description field, which is available to all kind of file is the perfect solution for that. I just look for a way to display the content of this field in the metadata panel or the details columns and in a readable manner (i.e a box containing multi-line paragraph). I wish I knew how to script it myself...
